Congratulations to Fellow Key West Scrivener

The Extremist congratulates senior writer Mark Howell of Key West's Solares Hill newspaper. At a recent Florida Press Club Excellence in Journalism awards ceremony in Ft. Meyers the Press Club showed its superior taste and judgment by showering Mark with accolades.

He won five first place awards and a second place award for his work in Solares Hill. The haul is unprecedented for a single FPC member. Included were prizes for General Excellence in Serious Feature Writing; in Public Safety Reporting; in Government News; in General News and in Criticism Writing. The second place award was for General Excellence in Health Writing.

Pictured below are Mr. Howell with his wife Jan and stepdaughter Melissa, whose help will no doubt be invaluable to the old coot in carrying away such a haul.
