Special MAFA meeting Thursday, March 30
Chris Cogswell and Mike Sullivan of MAFA Academy and F3 Advisors will give us an overview of the current market situation, including thoughts on what could be reasonable steps to take with your paper and non-paper* assets.
They’ll also touch on ESGs, what they are, why we don’t use them!

Mike Sullivan, CFP®
Mike entered the financial industry shortly after the Crash of 87. Mike’s journey has taken him through Fidelity Investments, BISYS Fund Services, Meeder Investment Management, his own comprehensive financial planning and investment management firms and several other small businesses. His natural focus is on the private sector and small to mid-sized businesses where he deploys strategies that seek to grow and protect assets, plan for all situations, and safeguard clients.
Mike built businesses and business units, developed sophisticated securities-lending operations in the era of Glass Steagall, and championed efforts that fortify business, business owners, individuals and their families. He and his partner Chris Cogswell founded F3 Advisors to advance the notions of Food, Finance and Freedom, built on a foundation of Family, Faith and Friendship.
He has a BS degree in Finance from Providence College and has been a Certfied Financial Planning Professionial, CFP since 2002.
J. Chris Cogswell, AIF®
Chris comes from a small family business background, and has enjoyed working with individual investors and small businesses since 2002 when he established his own firm to provide financial planning and investment advisory services. He teemed up with Mike Sullivan to found F3 Advisors to provide these same services in support of families looking to maintain their liberty by fortifying their financial and business operations.
Chris cut his teeth as an institutional equity analyst in Hong Kong and China beginning in 1994, with further stints in investment banking and strategic investment. His eight years there included being in Hong Kong for the British handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997 and also a year in Shanghai through 1998. During this time Chris traveled throughout China visiting companies and using his Mandarin Chinese ability. He maintains key relationships to this day that he developed during those years.
He graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a BA in History and a Certificate of Public Affairs. He has a Mandarin Chinese degree from the Beijing Foreign Language Normal College, and a Master of International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
*Non-paper assets are precious metals and other assets which are not in a typical retirement or brokerage account.
